The Yamaha Digital Signal Processing Factory pci interface cards date from the end of the 90's and have similar functionality to the O2/R mixing consoles. Although it's signal path's are still better than CD-quality, for recording, mixing and mastering purposes they don't meet today's RecordingRoom standards. But as a headphone mixer with four (or more) individual stereo headphone mixes it's perfect!
So for histories sake and for those having also found a good purpose for these very nice cards hereby the info from a number of years ago.

The Yamaha DSP Factory PCI card offers a digital 32 bits 24 channel, 8 bus mixing console with dynamics processor (gate, compression, ducking etc.), 4 band parametric equalizer and 6 aux sends per channel.
The card (DS2416) also includes two fully customizable internal effect processors (reverb, delay, chorus, flange and more).
Optional AX16-AT card(s) add two ADAT light pipe inputs and outputs for light speed digital connection to the outer world.
In short: The famous Yamaha's 02R's processing and mixing capabilities on a card. Plus 8 recording channels and 16 playback channels for your audio applications.
Two cards can be used as is or can be cascaded in order to achieve a 48 channel, 8 bus console with 4 Effects and 1 stereo master.

C-Mexx C-Console for the  Yamaha DSP Factory is THE utmost application for controlling the mixer entirely real-time. It offers the complete freedom in controlling and automating the mixer, provides advanced MIDI capabilities and includes plenty good interfaces.
C-Mexx also has a Software Development Kit (S.D.K.) available. This makes it possible to create entire new controlling surface interfaces. For any device!

Custom interfaces
Using a cascaded 2 card setup on a dedicated 19" screen at 1280-1024 resolution made it a challenge to view as much used controls as possible while still remaining a decent general overview...

The interface consists of the following views:
- 40 channel main
- single channel
- Sum,  Aux, Bus, Effect
- 8 channel effect returns
- Out-patch and preferences

- The layout is meant to be fixed and best suited for 1280-1024 resolution.
- Specifically designed for a cascaded two card setup.
- Surround and transport controls are not implemented.
- Check out the flip page buttons on the left of the main view.
- Shift click on any channel to activate it in the single channel view.
- It is recommended to disable the Multiple Editors option.
- Check out the Libraries for the channel view.
- Shift click on the main pot on the left to view the I/O and routing.
- Click on the FXchannels Effect description.
- Enjoy!
